COASTAL STATION

COASTAL MONITORING STATION: The Coastal Marine Environmental Monitoring Station was installed on 4 March 2020, on a seabed of approximately 10 meters in the bay of Santa Teresa (Lerici-Sp), with the collaboration of TeleSub Lanterna s.r.l. and the Spezzini Mussel Farmers Cooperative.

The station aims to create an advanced monitoring system complementary to those already existing in the Ligurian territory, pooling human resources, infrastructures, equipment, and contributing to the costs of maintaining efficiency. The main function of the station is the study of geophysical-oceanographic data, the protection of the ecosystems that populate the area and the testing of instrumentation by research institutions or companies.

The observatory also allows to view real time data.

During this time, many ordinary maintenance operations were carried out on the coastal station, thanks to the precious collaboration of the CNES - Nautical Center for State Police Divers - LA SPEZIA  both for the maintenance of the station and for the placement of special cages for the study of plastic degradation in the sea
